"After every E3, it seems like gamers are always wondering who "won" E3 between Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. The question strikes me as odd, because "winning" is a loaded term–it would mean that the others lost. With this E3, there wasn't a definite "loser", but varying degrees of winning. Maybe none of them appealed to you, but all of them had something to offer as long as you weren't looking at it from a purely personal basis.
So, who won E3? I'll let the grades speak for themselves but, in the end they all won in different ways."
GamesRadar writes: "So E3's finally over for another year (for ever?) and we're left with tired eyes, full notebooks and - if you're a Nintendo fan - empty hearts. But how can we possibly sum up the mass of data in one easy-to-digest article?
Easy. We convert all the game data into sexy pie charts and give you the whole show in graphic form. Go on, try a slice."
From the preview: "Standing on a boat in the middle of the Med, the voluptuous Lady Croft glistens in the sun. She leaps into the bluest ocean we've ever seen, equips her breathing apparatus, and makes for a sunken tomb.
The scale is jaw-dropping. Lara is free to swim wherever she pleases and, after a dive which seems to last forever, she sets about exploring the buildings half-buried in the seabed. Tomb Raider has never looked this good."
"Several hours ago, a Nintendo Power cover surfaced on the popular gaming forum Neogaf. It's cover clearly stated that the issue would reveal information on a new Sega IP titled "Sonic & The Black Knight", however a few sites began to doubt legitimacy.
Various Photoshop "investigators" went to work hoping to expose the cover as a fake. I decided to go a different route and check to see if SEGA registered the domain name.
It turns out that they most certainly did register sonicandtheblacknight.com on what appears to be July 2, 2008. Below is the domain information extracted directly from the Japan Whois database. "
Experts warn that the game, which assesses players' fitness levels based on their body mass index, labels them underweight, ideal weight, overweight or obese. They say the game could cause eating disorders and self-esteem issues.
""You know what?" mutters Edward Carnby (the protagonist of the game) after blowing up a vampire-bat-creating-blob, "I'm dreaming of a beer". Believe me, so was I.
Carnby himself actually says it best when Sarah, the obligatory sexy side-kick, says: "Just one more problem.", and he exasperatedly replies: "And I'm supposed to find this surprising?" No, unfortunately.
In this game the problems overshadow the brilliance, and the player ends up feeling that frustration too often darkens the fun."
